Ruthenium
Ruthenium belongs to the group of platinic metals and is important for the preparation of dental alloys as it is a good grain refiner.
The addition of small quantities of iridium or ruthenium generates a higher number of crystallization nuclei during the solidification of the alloy, thus building a small-grain structure (from average grain diameters of 150 µ up to 20-30 µ).
Such a processing generates a higher mechanical resistance of alloys, reduced formation of dendrites thus ensuring higher homogeneity, increased toughness, higher integrity of the thin borders and improved polishability.
Ruthenium is also used for the preparation of decorative galvanic plating solutions.
8853 S.p.A. supplies ruthenium in POWDER form in bottles from 100 to 500 grams each.
